Description
771 Language dining chairs by Joseph André Motte for Steiner France 1950s, set of 2
About the item
Set of infamous Language dining chairs by the French grandmaster of design Joseph André Motte, also known as “Tongue” chairs, due to the unmistakable shape of the seat.
These chairs were designed in 1954 by Joseph André Motte for Steiner France, as part of his series for Steiner. The 771 chairs were actually designed in conjunction with the 770 series. And the similarities are clear, both in the shaped metal frame and the rounded forms of the seat. Notice the twist in the feet near the bottom, a typical Motte design feature. Also the fact that the seat and backrest are of the exact same shape and form.
The specific chairs in question feature a black frame and white bouclé fabric.
About its condition
