Description
446 Club lounge set by Pierre Paulin for Artifort 1960s, set of 3
About the item
A set of 2 rare 446 Club chairs and matching 446/3 sofa by Pierre Paulin for Artifort, 1968 production. In contrast to the more common 442 series, the 446 series are actually only produced in very limited numbers.
The set has close resemblance to the designs of Florence Knoll, but with some unique alterations, in the typical “Club chair” design fashion.
The chairs and sofa have chrome plated thin steel feet and a steel frame. The chairs and sofa have a low height and large width and depth, so they have quite a bit of stance. The set is upholstered in thick foam, leather and with buttoned pillows.
The original building plate from Artifort is still present below the seat, providing for authenticity.
Chairs measure 81 cm width, 77 cm depth, 72 cm height, seat height 41 cm
Sofa measures 207 cm width, 77 cm depth, 72 cm height, seat height 41 cm
About its condition
The set is in good and solid vintage condition with its original leather. The leather shows a lot of wear but the foam and frame are in good condition, so they provide for a perfect base for reupholstery according to customer desire.
We can upholster these chairs and sofa in any fabric or leather of preference.
