About this item
A timeless beauty by Tobia & Afra Scarpa, this André dining table.
Originally designed in the 70s by Tobia Scarpa for Gavina, which became Knoll International later, this table still has so much presence.
The frame consists of solid chromed steel and has an abstract geometry. The 4 central columns have been placed as close to the centre as possible to provide for as much as possible space underneath the table. The frame provides as much as possible open space so that the glass plate appears to float on top of the frame. The round columns bear an interesting contrast to the square frame size. The central columns have been topped with a leather pad that is used to rest the glass top upon. The thickened smoke dark glass plate on top is original and sticks out on the sides complementing the floating effect. The top measures 136 x 136 cm and easily supports 4-8 seating places.
The table still bears the original Gavina stickers and the original glass plate.
About its condition
The table has been very well preserved. The frame is in excellent condition, with little to no corrosion while the glass plate has some minor wear visible.
