Description
Bespoke Kandy lounge set by Roche Bobois 1970s, set of 3
About the item
This is a very special lounge set by Roche Bobois, consisting of a 1x 2 seater corner sofa, 1x 3 seater straight sofa and 1 lounge chair. As Roche Bobois did a lot of custom work back in the days, it appears that this product is one of them too.
The origins of this sofa set can be traced back to 1975, where this sofa set was ordered from Roche Bobois at the Bordeaux international fair (Foire Bordeaux International). The original invoice is still present.
It’s clear that the custom set was loosely inspired by the designs of Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, as the sofa looks like a hybrid between the Aralia and Kashima designs. However, the dimensions are unique for this sofa. Perhaps it was designed as a custom job by Michel Ducaroy himself, as Ducaroy also did work for Roche Bobois during the 70s.
Just like the more well-known peers, the set consists solely out of preformed foams and is covered in white patterned fabric.
In any case, this sofa set is certainly unique in its kind.
About its condition
The set is in an original condition and has some repairs in the fabric. It can be used as is or it can be reupholstered for a perfect result. We can offer multiple reupholstery options. The base/foam is in perfect condition and provides a good base.
