Birch wood Moment chair by Ruud Jan Kokke for KEMBO 1990s, set of 2
SOLD TO BEIJING, CHINA.
About the item
Very rare set of “Moment” armchairs designed in 1992 by Ruud Jan Kokke; a contemporary Dutch designer.
A true contemporary Dutch masterpiece. This specific “Moment” series was specifically designed for the use in public spaces. A remarkable customer who bought and used the design was the Stedelijk Musuem in Amsterdam. The Moment series consisted of benches (with and without backrests), stools and chairs (with armrests). Kembo Veenendaal was assigned for the production.
In particular the chairs have only been made in very limited numbers and aren’t produced nowadays anymore.
The chairs have been made out of multiplex birch wood. The chairs have a very simple yet elegant design with the curved seat that flows over in the feet in order to provide for maximum comfort. The backrest is connected through a chromed steel arm that loops around the seat. Minimalistic but beautiful.
The seat and backrest have vents in order to provide for an additional visual effect.
Original markings are present below the chair.
Certainly a design that might appraise in collectibility during the coming years.
About its condition
In very good condition with only limited patina visible on the wood.
