About the item
This is a very particular set of dining chairs in brutalist style, likely designed and produced in the 70s. We’ve never seen another similar set of chairs even though its style reveals its origin; Netherlands. How can we tell? The slatted design of the chair is strongly similar to designs of ‘t Spectrum by Martin Visser and Arspect by Walter Antonis. As well, the chairs reveal a code imprinted in the wood that reveals a potential link to the Spectrum factory in Bergeijk the Netherlands. Although the chairs can’t be traced back to Aspect or ‘t Spectrum and are of unknown provenance, there is a strong likelihood that the chairs were produced in the ‘T Spectrum factory and most likely for an unknown brand and/or designer or specifically commissioned for a customer.
The chairs feature a solid wood structure that has been painted black. The design in particularly appealing because of its curved slats, both for the seat and backrest. The backrest slats are positioned in a sort of forward design. The overall design is very abstract and the finish is rough looking therefore it’s strongly in line with the popular brutalist look. The chairs are built very solid.
About its condition
The chairs are in good solid condition and in nice overall original vintage condition with some slight overall patina visible.
