Onda brushed steel and glass coffee table by Giovanni Offredi for Saporiti 1970s

About the item

The Onda series by Giovanni Offredi for Saporiti Italia is a perfect example of Italian modernistic design, on the verge of space age. The Onda series consisted of a coffee table, lounge chair and sofas (also referred to as the “Wave”).

All of these designs were very edgy at their time of introduction, with the strong use of leather, fabric and brushed steel.

In our opinion , the Onda coffee table is the most appealing design from this serie and the most rare piece as well.

The table has a beautifully designed frame that seems to be rotating due to the angled lines. The angled lines are both horizontal as well as vertical. The exposed screws provide an industrial feeling that really suits the entire design. The brushed steel is well-chosen for this design as well. The top consists of a glass slate.

The table has been constructed in a very solid manner.

The authenticity of the table can easily be traced through archival records.

About its condition

The frame is in very good condition. The top will be replaced by a new glass plate in the same specifications.
