Description
Palissander dining chair by Pieter de Bruyne for V-Form Belgium 1960s, set of 4
About the item
These chairs are early designs by Pieter de Bruyne for V-Form Belgium. Even after more than 60 years, the chairs still look contemporary due to their timeless design. Pieter de Bruyne, along with Oswald Vermaercke, did a lot of influential work for V-Form Belgium, which was one of the leading mass modernist brands of Belgium during the 50s, until the 80s. Because the Belgians appreciate quality, these chairs have been constructed in a well-built fashion.
The chairs bare the signature of De Bruyne with the slightly tilted frame near the front that follows the seat cushion perfectly. As well, the back rest is slightly tilted in good De Bruyne fashion. The carved vertical frame near the backrest with the distinctive 2 brass button design to mount the backrest completes the overall look.
The chairs have been build in palissander veneered wood with olive green leatherette/vinyl. The upholstery has been replaced in a later stage but are fully original, apart from that.
The chairs are pictured in an older V-Form brochure, certifying their authenticity.
About its condition
The chairs are in fully solid condition. The palissander frame has some overall patina while the foam and upholstery are still in very nice condition.
