Description

Sphere chair by Boris Tabacoff for Mobilier Modulaire Moderne 1970s, set of 2

About the item;

Space age design at its best.

Boris Tabacoff designed multiple space age designs in the 70s for Mobilier Modulaire Moderne; a French manufacturer of that time.

What distinguished Tabacoff designs from other space age designs is his free standing (floating) shell. Only one vertical bar connects the shell and the frame and this is absolutely unique.

As well, his use of materials was modern and fresh; plexiglass, metal/chrome and leather.

The Sphere is definitely one of his masterpiece. Because of the low production numbers of Tabacoff chairs, these items are very well sought after. Hence, collectable. This is the lounge chair/armchair edition.

This specific chair has brown plexiglass, chrome frame and will be upholstered in white bouclé wool fabric.

About its condition:

In very good and original condition. Some markings on the fibreglass visible but nothing structural. The frame has never been repaired or welded before and the chrome is without any corrosion. The fabric of the cushion completely new.
